This group at JPL are being presented with the official JPL Quality Assurance Certification Card at Pasadena on 14 May 1965.

Don Gray writes –

“In 1965 I took a team of 15 people from DSS 41 to JPL for checkout and acceptance of the L/S-Band conversion which was installed at Woomera at the latter end of 1964, early 1965. DSS 41 then became involved in Pioneer, Mariner and to a small extent in Surveyor.

From left to right the people in the photo are:
Robertson (Bob) Stevens, Manager, JPL Advanced Communications Systems – he is presenting accreditation certificates for what I believe was called Quality Assurance rather than Quality Control.
Doug Rickard (Whiskers)
Peter Clancy getting his certificate from Bob Stevens

Other members of the DSS41 L/S Upgrade Team who did not do the QA course were Ken Brooking, John Carter, Ted Howell, Don Loughhead, Joe Sabolich and Geoff Tullett.”
